Why weightloss and appetite suppressant drugs make you fatter.

Because you can't stick to a 1500 calorie model-starvation diet, doesn't make you a food addict or a weak will-powered individual - it makes you human.

Maybe he's not really a jerk. He might just be in need of a turkey sandwich.

Being hungry is normal - you eat and it goes away.

Being hungry and not being a size 2, is not a reason to ask your doctor for speed, because you "have difficulty focusing...".

The stimulant class of medication includes widely used drugs such as Tenuate, Ritalin, Adderall, and Dexedrine.

Stimulants work by increasing dopamine and often also endorphins in the brain.

Endorphines are polypeptides produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus in vertebrates, and they resemble the opiates in their abilities to produce analgesia and a sense of well-being. In other words, they might work as "natural pain killers."

Dopamine is a hormone and neurotransmitter occurring in a wide variety of animals, including both vertebrates and invertebrates. In chemical structure, it is a phenethylamine.

In the brain, dopamine functions as a neurotransmitter.

Dopamine is produced in several areas of the brain, including the substantia nigra. Dopamine is also a neurohormone released by the hypothalamus. Its main function as a hormone is to inhibit the release of prolactin from the anterior lobe of the pituitary.

Dopamine can be supplied as a medication that acts on the sympathetic nervous system, producing effects such as increased heart rate and blood pressure.

Dopamine has many functions in the brain, including important roles in behavior and cognition, motor activity, motivation and reward, regulation of milk production, sleep, mood, attention, and learning.

The problem with stimulants is that they do not actually repair, replenish and rebalance dopamine, they overexcite the central nervous system by STIMULATING dopamine.

Our body's battery becomes drained rapidly, and even though the weight loss is fast because our nervous system is being over stimulated, the aftermath is a biochemical disaster. Now our dopamine level is even lower, than when we started. This translates to an even lower metabolism.

In other words, we gain weight fast eating less.

No nutritionist can give you a quick-fix magic diet for the damage you have done with drugs.

These type of drugs - often prescribed for "attention deficit disorders" amongst already skinny celebrities in order to mask, that they are really abusing them as weight-loss remedies - they stimulate and drain our reservoir, instead of replenishing and rebuilding.

Now if taken short-term (less than 3 months) they can help kickstart a fatburn process going in the body, when combined with target nutrition and herbal intervention to replenish the biochemical imbalance. So there is a time and place in SEVERE weightloss resistance cases for this type of SHORT-TERM method.

That said, I still personally prefer to use a more body conscious method using coffee + adaptogenic and energizing herbs + medium-chain fats, as an alternative way to push the body into its natural fatburn state for certain cases of severe weightloss resistance.

When on stimulant drugs for more than a couple months, our adrenals shut off and our metabolism gets seriously damaged.

If we continue to take these "ADHD" drugs, because we want to manipulate our weight skinny, we will find ourself dealing with issues such as bone-loss, thinning hair, no sex-drive, poor fertility, low thyroid, irritable, depressed and dry skin.

If in doubt look at some of the celebrities known for their notorious drug abuse out there as they age.

Look at them when they're not wearing make-up, extensions, wigs and fake teeth.

Yes, most celebs on screen have their real teeth exchanged for porcelain crowns.. It's bad and very sad. And not a role model to emulate.

This strive for perfection is the lowest denominator.

We are sending off a signal to ourselves and others, that we are not enough.

That our being is not worthy of love as it is in this skin we are in.

progress

It is a source of incredible pain not only against our own being, but also because we are unconscious re-enforcing this belief in others as we go about displaying our values, choices and restrictions in life.

We as humans can never reach perfection, so we are aiming for something that is bound to fail from the get-go. We are setting ourselves up for a life of disappointment and failure, whenever we become obsessed with chasing all things shiny.

And thus we self-destruct instead of focus on what we CAN achieve.

Our focus should be on becoming better each day via character and thriving in this skin we are in, rather than deception, separation and idealization.

Hunger is a normal sensation and needs not be suppressed.

That is if you are not manipulating your body or something biochemically is going on, that has disconnected your hunger/satiety switch.
